Welcome to my blog. Many have asked, “Who is ODella Wilson?” And, many more wonder where I got my pen name Alhavakia. When asked about my work, job, or career; one will receive at least three answers - all are different – as I wear many hats! About the only thing I have ‘more’ of, would be nicknames!

The best answer I can give the reader would be: Read my writings. This gives the greatest insight into what makes me tick, who I am now, and what I aspire to become. My Poetry and Political writings are most insightful to my inner workings, so to speak.

My head is always filled with ideas, ready to absorb more facts and bring those thoughts and knowledge to print. Whether it relates to legal rights, abortion, emotions or spirituality, coping skills, death penalty, activism, advice, common sense, online marketing, tricks of the trade, current affairs; basically anything and everything to do with life and living it better – I’m going to write about it in an attempt to share what wisdom and knowledge I’ve picked up along the way.

Whether you are looking for DIY projects you can do during the weekend, looking for weight loss tips, or how the legal system is structured in the U.S., I will be adding topics regularly.

So, here’s to life… happy reading and aspiring to inspire!

News: Homicide, dealing with tragic events is not easy

I would like to take several moments of your time to apologize for the lack of recent posting. And, I only tell you of the following events, not for pity; but, only to explain my absence of posting and neglect of web presence:

On March 29, 2009, several young black males viciously gunned down my brother upon exiting his home. Some of the neighbors said they thought it might relate back to an incident a few days prior, when my brother was told he was ‘a white boy in the wrong (predominantly black) neighborhood.’ Let me state, I have owned this house since 1997 and we know all our immediate neighbors – race was never an issue. But, obviously there are some neighbors who do have issue with race. Unfortunately, there is much racism in the world and racism knows no color. Every ethnic group knows the negativity of racism, this breaks my heart.

At a time when I should have been able to mourn the loss of a sibling, I instead found myself thrust into an abyss of personal attacks on my family, lax protection from some of the local police officers – all of which aggravated my daughter’s medical condition (Intractible/Refractory Epilepsy).

Trying to deal with the loss of a loved one is difficult, but when their life is taken by homicide, well the shock of such makes for a very confused state of mind. Then consider that the local police say they have nothing to go on and the pain, confusion, numbness and every other emotion seem to take on a life of their own.

This is the fourth child my mother has lost, her second child loss to murder. She herself, only recently in remission from battling cancers and several surgeries, was already in a frail physical/mental health situation. Now, keep in mind as I tell you the following, we are talking about an elderly woman (almost 80 years old) that is Five feet, two inches tall. Yet, upon the police arriving on the scene, finding her sobbing uncontrollably and asking someone to help her son so he wouldn’t die – one officer threatened her with arrest, grabbed her and dragged her along to his police cruiser – forcefully shoving her into the back of his cruiser. In this officer’s reckless actions, my mother’s hand/arm was slammed into the door frame of the cruiser as he pushed her into the car. Her hand hit his car with such force it started to show signs of deep bruising within hours.

To say that I am outraged at this officer’s actions is an understatement, but it’s not a practice that hasn’t occurred in past, here in our city.

This horrible event was followed by numerous other attacks such as:

-death threats

-an attempted break-in: took police seventeen minutes to respond to the 911 call, from a prestinct less than one minute away (only six blocks from this house)

-stealing of my deceased brother’s puppy and returning to stop their vehicle, snap the puppy’s neck and throw it under my mother’s bedroom window, then driving off.

I had a terrible time trying to get the officer to write up an incident report, as he stated “Is that all?” when I told him what happened. Obviously he places no value on animals. I stated to him that at the least, it was consider theft of property, criminal trespass, wilfull destruction of property, and possibly another death threat. After much debate back and forth, this officer chose to write up the report as a ‘suspicious circumstance’ if you can believe that!

-Then, April 25, my mother is mugged for her purse at her door as she tried to enter her home! Her frail body slammed into the hardwood and metal door frame, injuring her – yet the police write the incident as a simple ‘purse theft’ and make no mention of the assault!

All these crimes and more, took place in less than thirty (30) days.

So, please be patient with me and my lack of postings at the moment. I am doing my best during these difficult times. New members and prior members who stick by me during these difficult days, will be thanked for their patience by way of some great gifts.

Also, I was eyeball deep in the development of a new product package, to which my (now deceased) brother was to be my initial beta tester. Life, nor business stops to wait on you though, so now I must find an alternate beta tester. I am hoping to have my pre-launch notification ready prior to June 15, of this year. So watch for that posting. For those wanting advanced notice and (drastic) member discounts, sign up now.

Thank you for your loyalty and patience,

O’Della

Internet Marketing: What I’ve Learned | Update

Internet Marketing is a great opportunity and alternative to the ‘standard physical’ business model. Many internet marketers will move back into the standard physical business model, once their business has expanded though. This serves them well for many reasons. But, what I’ve learned about this industry might surprise some people. Other’s will say it was common knowledge and still others will say the whole industry is a scam.

The internet marketing industry is a revolutionary industry. It offers legitimate opportunities to those who might otherwise have no opportunities to better themselves or own their own business.

Can you actually make money online? Yes, most definitely! Are there scammers out there? Unequivocally YES! Are these marketers telling us the truth when they claim to make massive amounts of money? Again, absolutely. Are they telling us the truth about how they are making this money?

Absolutely NOT!

I have thousands of emails in my mailbox, all claiming to possess the key to my success. All professing their method as the ‘winning’ method to claiming my share of the pie.

From templates for ‘ready made’ websites in five steps. Or “Create your website in one day” and “Get indexed in Google in 48 hours or less!” Or how about, “Make $5000 a week working two hours a day!” And I could go on with hundreds of other sales pitches I’ve received.

While the gurus are telling the truth about
the amounts of money they make
building a website (3 page) in one day
listing building is crucial

They are not telling the truth about ‘how’ they are doing these things!

If you really believe you can make massive amounts of money with a simple 3 page website (and nothing else) you are bound to be disappointed and fail at internet marketing.

If you think building a massive list of email addresses will make you massive money, again you are bound to be disappointed and fail.

And while most marketers’ answers for their personal success will differ, they all agree on one thing: Success very rarely occurs your first time out the gate. Nor even your second attempt and third attempt will result in success. And again, while they all agree on that same reason for failure, they do not agree on how to overcome this obstacle to your success.

That is about to change

In reality, the industry requires you invest the same qualities and practices any other business would require in order to succeed. And in some ways, the processes and procedures are more complex than the standard physical business.

But, this industry does offer an opportunities [as stated earlier] that no other industry offers; and offers greater benefits. A Global potential customer base is one of the most obvious benefits. The ability to run/operate your business in a spare room of your house or apartment is another obvious benefit. Making your own hours and working around your personal schedule are more benefits offered by this industry. The benefit of not having to carry an inventory is yet another great benefit.

And while the above are only a few of the many benefits this industry offers, like with any industry – it does come with some drawbacks.

In my next post, we will discuss some of these drawbacks. I will also address how to overcome these drawbacks. I will discuss some of the technicalities other promoting internet marketers ‘forget’ to mention or bypass when trying to recruit new entrepreneurs into this industry.

If you have a particular question on this topic you wish to have answered, leave your comments below and I will do my best to address them.

Thank you for taking your valuable time to read my post,

Unblock Telephone Numbers On Your Cell Phone

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could unblock telephone numbers? If it wasn’t bad enough having telemarketers calling your home, now they are calling your cell phone.

The phone rings, but the number is blocked or comes up unavailable or anonymous – do you answer it or ignore the call? Curiosity gets the better of most of us. Ignoring these calls seems to invoke more calls. So what to do?

I’m a most curious person myself, which led me on my quest: Find a way to identify these telemarketers and blacklist them. It took some time and effort, but I managed to find a solution – and a free one at that. It currently works on AT&T and T-Mobile, (US and Canada only) but will be expanding their services to include other service providers in the near future.

Here’s a video that explains, step by step, how you can unblock telephone numbers (Note: The site offers premium services as well, so if you are looking for the free service make sure you select ‘flytrap’ as your selection):

Enjoy, and thanks for visiting my site,

Update: What I’ve been doing

Hey, I know my posts on this blog have been less than expected, but the good news is that I’ve been building an information blog with lots of valuable information on a variety of topics. Trying to divide my time with the numerous responsibilities I readily undertake and the daily routines and responsibilities of life and living, well to say there’s not much free time is putting it mildly.

My most recent challenge was doing what I was told was impossible to do – not the first time I’ve heard that said and probably won’t be the last either. Anyway, a friend crashed their computer and couldn’t get past the blue screen for anything. They bought the computer used, didn’t get any system backup disks, software or driver disks – nothing! This person contacted tech support [Windows and Dell] and they were unable to resolve the problem. Tech support told this person their only option was to purchase a new operating system package, etc. or purchase a new computer. [Neither of which is cheap] These were the only options available. LOL, that’s all I needed to hear.

This being my first experience with this particular issue, it took me roughly 12 hours – but I did it. Not only did I fix everything, the only cost involved was my time – nothing to buy. I also learned how to create small program snips [OMG, it's so simple you wouldn't believe it] in a matter of a few seconds, that completely automated the process of installation. Again it goes back to “not how much you know” but “knowing the right information.” I’m sure this is another one of those inside secrets programmers and people like Bill Gates hopes you never learn!

I am also working on developing a custom coded web package that is so awesome, it’s gonna blow your mind. Hopefully that will be ready for a pre-launch by mid-March. Details for advance notice of release will be available at The Go See Girl Answers Blog. Hopefully I will have the registration link up and running within the next week. If you are quick enough – you can get a free trial upgrade to the premium membership site. The premium level area will include products that you would normally have to pay for elsewhere. These products sell from $17 up to several hundred dollars each. Some products even have rights that go with them, giving you the opportunity to resell them to others and keep 100% of the profits.

I don’t know how you can get a better deal than that! So check it often, watch for the registration optin and claim your spot. This will be a limited event for a select few, and an opportunity to generate multi-stream residual income. I can’t go into too much detail right now, but those who pass up this offer will be kicking themselves in the butt later.

OK, that’s it for now. See ya soon on the other side.

Accountability Synonymous with Change

Hey folks, I hope your New Year is going wonderful so far and exceeds your expectations. This will be a year to go down in history for so many reasons. I believe this truly is ‘the year’ for change. Not just Obama change, but much more. Our new word of the year should be Accountability. It must be synonymous with Change too.

The minds of many Americans have ‘changed’ the way they think and how they perceive things to be. From the old mindset of acceptance to a new concept of hope and opportunity. But, I would like to ask a favor of my fellow Americans [and others around the globe].

Our biggest ‘Change’ we need to make is via a single word which will encompass the array of problems we face with a winning outcome: ACCOUNTABILITY

Everyone who knows me personally will tell you – I have not been an Obama fan in any way, shape, or form. Quite the opposite in fact. And while I’m still not sure of our new President’s true intentions, there is one thing I am sure of: The United States of America has finally crossed that [long overdue] white/black barrier. It speaks to me of a changing mentality among Americans, and that’s a good thing.

The hope that we can finally start judging a person on character, not creed or skin color.  President Obama faces many challenges as our Commander In Chief, more-so than any previous President, the least of which is his skin color. Unfortunately for now, racism continues to be an issue for many people. But, President Obama faces some monumental challenges. He faces the responsibility of Global Change.

Issues of the economy —  the unemployment rate, foreclosures, bankrupt mega corporations are just the tip of the iceberg of our economy. But, this is not just a US based problem – it is Global.

Then we have the environmental concerns and the need to find a ‘fix’ to reverse all the damage done by humans. From finding cleaner energy solutions to replenishment solutions. We have poisoned our water, land, and air. God only knows the effects of our space endeavors. Again, this is a Global issue.

And while there have been major advances in medicine, new ailments and diseases continue to flourish and the long forgotten [previously thought to have been cured] are resurfacing -rearing their nasty heads as if to sneer at us.  Our health care system is failing many of our citizens here in the US. The United States is not alone here either. Health care, or lack thereof,  again is a Global issue.

Terrorism, again a Global issue. The list goes on and on. The point that I make:

Until we have Accountability, positive change will not and cannot occur. People need incentive and positive reinforcement to develop and aspire to better ideas, practices, and habits. This will only happen with accountability. Despite the good intentions of many, there are many other people who lack good character. When there is little (to none) accountability for those lacking good character, bad things will always follow.

So to our new President, President Obama, I ask that you make Accountability synonymous with Change. Our Country leads the rest of the world in most ways that count. So let us lead in ‘change’ that counts — with accountability.

To my readers — I ask that you join me by demanding accountability be synonymous with change.  If you have any other ideas or solutions to make this world a better place, please comment below.

As always, thank you for taking your valuable time to read my posts. Here’s to a wonderful 2009.

PS. I have started a new blog which is still kind of  ‘pre-launch’ in content, but has several articles filled with insight. You may visit it here: The Go See Girl  – Answers Blog

Our Visitors No Longer Come

[Poem on effects of ecomonic displacement]

The neighborhood is not the best
this place we call the ‘hood’ in jest
too many drugs, too many guns
our visitors no longer come.

Pimps selling ladies of the night
pushers give the druggies delight
out in plain view, they have no fear
this place so bad, no cops come here.

Streets littered with broken glass
the vacant lots are full of trash
emaciated dogs and cats
the alleyways are full of rats

Our memories still remain vivid
of suburbs were we used to live
at night in prayer, our thanks we said
but now we pray to wake not dead.

A distant past, our life before
a home to love, we have no more
where we sleep now, a rundown slum
our visitors no longer come.

AUTHOR NOTE: Life can be unpredictable at times. Sometimes it can knock you for a loop. Changing everything you thought you knew about your life in a heartbeat. How we choose to react to those actions can decide what avenues will remain open, and those that will come to an end. The current economy has displaced many families with various degrees of impact and effect. Remember there are good people in bad places, just as their are bad people in good places. Status does not necessarily define character!

My Bermuda Love

Opportunities come and go
how long to last, we never know
I have to say, while time allows
what feelings you, in me, arouse.

Lettuce desire deep within
as hands caress your silky skin
A pickle, you have put me in
Ketchup within my buns to sin.

When I am close, the tears I shed
my eyes become a cherry red
my bermuda love haunting me
though make me cry, I still love thee.

My tongue, you tease and tantalize
your flavor, I must analyze
it burns, yet I cannot forego
my cheeks aflame with your Bordeaux.

My flesh is grilled with you inside
desire mounds as both collide
have you, I must, to be complete
before my burger, I can eat.

Free Graphics Editors

Posted January 9, 2009 by alhavakia
Categories: DIY: Do it yourself, Free Software: Website Development, Uncategorized

Tags: , , , ,

OK, in my last post I said I would next address graphics editors. Well, it really came down to graphic (minus the plural) editor, as in only one! If any reader can suggest some good free graphics editors – I’m all ears folks!

The only free editor (or otherwise) I can fully endorse would be gimp! And while I am still learning (using the step by step tutorials) and probably will continue the learning process for some time to come, it is most definitely worth learning.

Recently I outsourced some graphics work to a freelancer (first time) and to say I was shocked is an understatement. I was horrified by what was presented as ‘professional.’ I could have had my granddaughter design better graphics.

I cannot show you what was presented to me as ‘professional’ but I can show you what I designed with GIMP graphics editor my first time out in a matter of minutes: (As a severly graphically challenged amateur)

Not too shabby huh?

Not too shabby huh?

This was my first attempt at creating a button.

Why pay several hundred dollars for better known programs, when you can have a ‘better’ program – FREE!

This is an open source, cross-platform graphics editor with 40+ plugins that truly delivers in every way. If you are willing to take the time to learn this program, you will have total control over image manipulation. Even though this program takes some learning, there is an extensive user manual available online. With screenshots, detailed instructions and examples — the only limits you will face will be your own imagination.

From start to finish, the user manual will walk you through the entire process of everything and anything related to graphics creation, editing, manipulation, layering, filtering, and the list just keeps going …

This program is well worth downloading, learning, and using – over and over again! Fire those expensive graphics designers. Create professional looking graphics, all custom made by you. On a scale of One to Five GIMP earns a 5+. Download the program here: GIMP.ORG  You can view the user manual here

I am currently (very slow process) working on a downloadable pdf manual for convenience and easy reference. That will be available on my future website (near future hopefully) www.goldeproducts.com, so watch for the announcement of that launch date. With over a dozen ‘irons in the fire’ at any given time, some of my projects move along at a slow, but steady pace. If you are patient with me, the rewards will be worth it.

Well, that’s it for this post. Watch for my next post. It wasn’t an intended post ‘Topic’ at this point, but the experience I encountered (dealing with cPanel) left me feeling like an idiot and I’m supposed to have a high IQ. No wonder so many people are selling video tutorials and books on using cPanel. [PS. I will show you how you can get these free too.]

PPS. If you find value in this blog, please share your experience with everyone you know, and please comment! Is there a question nagging at you, but you always felt was too dumb to ask? By all means throw those questions at me. The only dumb question there is in this world, is the one unasked out of fear.
